Plum, green apple and almond combine together in this washed lot from Los Altos de Chiapas. Home to Tzeltal and Tzotzil indigenous communities, this area of Mexico is known for its high altitude and traditional farming practices, like cultivating coffee beneath the shade of other trees. These ancient methods help shield the plants from diseases like coffee leaf rust, promote biodiversity and offer environmental advantages that economically benefit the indigenous communities who manage these ecosystems.
Our importing partners, Ensambles, carry out fieldwork in the region all year round. Their technicians train coffee producers on sustainable farming methods, harvesting techniques and eco-friendly production systems.
The aim is to showcase the quality of the coffee and promote the region in the specialty coffee market, improve the families quality of life and successfully tackle the challenges of climate change.
