Description

Alto El Vapor is a Costa Rican family-run micro-mill in Santa María de Dota, born from both tradition and necessity. For generations, the family worked in coffee, but in 2020–21 they decided to process and export under their own name rather than sell cherries through a cooperative. Alto El Vapor reflects the family’s commitment to community
and conservation. Ninety percent of the farm is preserved as natural forest, protecting local wildlife and safeguarding a spring that provides water to part of Santa María de Dota. Coffee grows alongside citrus, bananas, and vegetables, avoiding monoculture and fostering a circular economy. Each harvest is rooted in environmental stewardship, social welfare, and a deep belief that better coffee can create a better life—for their family, community, and beyond. 

How To Enjoy

Filter coffee is a classic and super tasty way to enjoy your brew. It’s made by pouring hot water over ground coffee beans and letting it drip through a paper or metal filter. Simple, clean, and packed with flavour — that’s why so many coffee lovers swear by it.
All of our feature coffees are omni roasted, which means they work great as filter or espresso, no matter how you brew.

Filter brewing, though, really brings out the unique flavours of the beans — from the origin and process to the producer behind it. Since filter roasts are usually light to medium, you get a smooth, balanced cup with a clean
finish.

Whether you're using a classic cafetière, a V60, or an AeroPress, filter coffee can be a seriously good experience. A good place to start is 15g of coffee to 250g of water — then tweak it to suit your taste.
We always recommend going for whole beans and grinding fresh for the best flavour, but we offer pre-ground too if that’s easier.

Delivery

All of our products are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48hr delivery: 

  • All items placed before 2.30pm (weekdays) will arrive within 48 hours
  • Orders placed after 2.30pm (weekdays) will arrive within 72 hours
  • Orders placed on the weekend, bank holiday, or after 2.30pm on a Friday will be collected the following Monday, to arrive by the Wednesday.
