Nyungwe Washing Station

Nyungwe is situated in Nyamasheke District, specifically in Kagano Sector and is owned by the Rwanda Trading Company. Daniel Iryivuze manages the washing station with 5 full time staff and around 60 seasonal staff during the harvest months. The station sits at an altitude of 1680 meters above sea level, and expands over a total area of 2.5 hectares. 
 

The station has a unique and favourable climate, which is distinct from the rest of the country, the cooler than usual nights, caused by the proximity to the forest, naturally slow down the ripening process of the cherries, factors that contribute to the distinct complexity of flavours found in the lots produced here. Lot 078 is a Red Bourbon varietal with high sweetness and notes of blood orange and caramel, with a unique aftertaste of kiwi fruit.
